Hua Hin has been celebrating this week. It his HM King Brumibol Adulydej's 86th birthday. The following image is a png shot from Thai PBS of the King giving his birthday speech.
Hua Hin was lit up this week to celebrate this event.
The royal waiting room at Hua Hin station was particularly beautiful.
Yellow was the colour to be worn, the King's colour. As long as there was yellow that was okay.
And then after an early start, the railways were offering free rides for people to get here and so were the buses, and finally it was time to head home.
I wasn't able to get in among the crowds because of the ankle which is still a problem. So no pictures of enthusiastic people waving their flags, sorry. However here is a link to the Guardian article on the day which will fill you in on the current situation.
I hope the pictures and the article give you a sense of how important this day is in Thailand.
All pictures except the png were taken with the fuji XE1 in bright sunlight with a very fast shutter and narrow aperture. Thanks for reading this blog.
